Guide TD210 Thermal Monocular

The Guide TD210 Thermal Monocular is a handheld thermal imager for wildlife watching, countryside observation and checking outdoor areas after dark. It detects temperature differences to show warm subjects against their surroundings, allowing observation without an external infrared illuminator.

Its compact format makes it convenient to carry between observation points or keep close at hand during an evening outdoors.

Thermal sensor and clear LCOS display

The 256 × 192 thermal detector uses a 12μm pixel pitch and works with a 10mm F1.0 objective lens. A 1280 × 960 LCOS display presents the thermal image through the eyepiece.

Ellmor lists a detection range of up to 400 metres for a 1.8m × 0.5m target. This describes detecting a heat source; recognising an animal or identifying fine detail depends on the distance, weather and surrounding scene.

Electronic focusing lets you adjust image sharpness, while the adjustable dioptre helps accommodate different users.

Flexible viewing modes

The Guide TD210 Thermal Monocular offers 1× and 2× digital zoom for adjusting the displayed view. Picture-in-picture adds an enlarged inset, helping you inspect a subject while keeping the wider scene visible.

Five colour modes provide different ways to display temperature differences. These include White Hot, Black Hot, Red Hot, Iron Red and Blue Hot.

Natural, Enhance and Highlight scene modes offer further viewing choices. Brightness and contrast controls let you tailor the display to changing conditions and personal preference.

Useful observation features

Image enhancement helps define edges within the thermal image, while hot tracking highlights the hottest area in the scene.

Built-in Wi-Fi supports connection to a compatible app for remote control and live viewing. Video output provides an additional connection option for use with suitable external equipment.

The integrated laser indicator helps point out an area of interest. It is an indicator rather than a laser rangefinder and should not be described as measuring distances.

Replaceable rechargeable battery

The TD210 uses a replaceable rechargeable 18650 battery. The listed battery life is up to eight hours, with actual runtime depending on settings, temperature and use.

Power-saving features include automatic standby, automatic power-off and a display-off function. Carrying a compatible charged spare provides flexibility for longer outings.

Designed for outdoor handling

IP66 protection provides resistance to dust and powerful water jets. A textured exterior, grippy base and central controls help make the monocular manageable during handheld use.

A built-in tripod thread also allows supported observation with a compatible tripod.
