Description
ThermTec VIDAR 650L 2.0 Thermal Imaging Scope
The ThermTec VIDAR 650L 2.0 is a compact thermal imaging scope featuring a 640×512 sensor, a 50mm F1.0 objective lens and an integrated laser rangefinder. It combines detailed thermal viewing with recording and wireless connectivity for regular outdoor use.
Its compact format offers an alternative to a traditional long-bodied scope, while retaining practical viewing controls and a clear display.
Sensitive thermal imaging
The detector uses a 12μm pixel pitch and offers NETD sensitivity of ≤18mK. This helps distinguish small temperature differences between a subject and its surroundings, supporting observation when visible light is limited or absent.
The manufacturer specifies detection up to 2,600 metres. Actual performance depends on subject size and environmental conditions, and this figure should not be treated as an identification distance.
50mm lens and adjustable viewing
The 50mm F1.0 lens provides 2.8× base magnification. Digital zoom from 1× to 4× allows you to enlarge the displayed image, with smooth and rapid zoom options available.
Its field of view measures approximately 15.4 metres across at 100 metres. This provides useful scene coverage when observing open ground and countryside features.
AMOLED display
A 0.39-inch AMOLED display with 1024×768 resolution presents the thermal image through the eyepiece. Six colour palettes offer different ways to display temperature differences.
The ThermTec VIDAR 650L 2.0 also includes picture-in-picture viewing, allowing a magnified area to appear within the main display. Automatic and manual image calibration options help maintain image consistency as conditions change.
Integrated laser rangefinder
The built-in laser rangefinder measures distances up to 1,200 metres, adding distance information to the viewing experience without requiring a separate handheld device.
Laser ranging and thermal detection are separate capabilities. The maximum measuring distance depends on the subject and conditions, while the thermal detection figure describes the ability to detect a heat signature.
Recording and internal storage
Photo, video and audio recording let you retain a record of your observations. The 64GB internal memory provides storage for images and footage that can be reviewed later.
Wireless hotspot connectivity supports app features, while the magnetic data connection provides a way to transfer saved files. These functions make it convenient to revisit an outing or share recorded observations.
Replaceable battery power
The device uses two replaceable 18650 batteries, with a manufacturer-rated operating time of up to 16 hours. Actual runtime varies with conditions and the functions in use.
IP67-rated protection supports outdoor use in dusty or wet environments, while the replaceable battery arrangement offers flexibility during longer sessions.
