ThermTec Ventus 650L Multi-Spectrum Binoculars

The ThermTec Ventus 650L brings thermal imaging, digital day/night viewing and laser rangefinding into one binocular. Its 50mm thermal lens and 3.7x base thermal magnification make it an option for observers who want a closer view across open ground.

Detailed thermal imaging

A 640 × 512 thermal sensor with 12µm pixels and sensitivity below 15mK works alongside a 50mm F1.0 objective lens. Thermal magnification extends from 3.7x to 14.8x with digital zoom, while a 50Hz refresh rate supports smooth viewing.

ThermTec states a detection range of up to 2,600 metres. This describes detecting a heat source, rather than positively identifying it at that distance. Weather, surroundings and subject size influence what you can distinguish.

Digital viewing through changing light

A separate 12-megapixel CMOS sensor provides the digital viewing channel. Switchable 850nm and 940nm infrared illumination supports night viewing, allowing observation to continue as daylight fades.

Thermal and digital views provide different information about the same scene. Switching between them lets you examine temperature differences alongside visible detail.

Built-in laser rangefinder

The ThermTec Ventus 650L includes a laser rangefinder rated to 1,000 metres, with stated accuracy of ±1 metre. This keeps distance measurement within the binocular, reducing the need to carry a separate rangefinder.

Display and recording

A 1600 × 1200 AMOLED display presents the image. Built-in 64GB storage, photo and video recording, and audio recording allow you to keep observations for later review.

Adjustable eyepiece spacing from 60–72mm helps accommodate different users. Two replaceable 18650 batteries provide a stated runtime of up to six hours, depending on settings and conditions. The housing has an IP67 protection rating.

Choosing between Ventus models

The 650L offers higher base thermal magnification than the 635L, with a narrower thermal field of view. Consider whether a closer view or broader coverage matters more for your usual observation locations.
