The ThermTec Oryx-L 635 is a thermal imaging scope featuring a 35mm F0.8 lens, a sensitive 640×512 detector and an integrated laser rangefinder. Its 2.6× base magnification provides a broad view of the surrounding scene, making it a useful option for observing fields, woodland edges and varied countryside.

A familiar scope profile combines central focusing with a dedicated zoom control, keeping the main viewing adjustments accessible.

Wide field of view

The 635 offers a field of view measuring 21.9 metres across at 100 metres. This allows more of the surrounding landscape to remain visible while observing an area.

Its 35mm lens and lower base magnification distinguish this model from the larger Oryx-L 650. Digital zoom is available when you want to enlarge part of the image.

Sensitive thermal detection

The 640×512 sensor uses a 12μm pixel pitch and offers NETD sensitivity of ≤15mK. This helps distinguish subtle temperature differences between a subject and its surroundings.

Thermal imaging enables observation in darkness without relying on visible light. The manufacturer specifies detection up to 1,800 metres, although actual performance depends on conditions and subject size. Detection range is different from the distance at which an animal can be identified.

Detailed OLED display

The ThermTec Oryx-L 635 features a 1.03-inch OLED display with 2560×2560 resolution. It presents the thermal image and on-screen information through the eyepiece.

Six colour palettes provide different ways to interpret the scene. Users can select the presentation they find most comfortable for the background and viewing conditions.

Convenient central focusing

The central turret focus system places image adjustment within easy reach. A separate zoom control provides a familiar way to change the displayed view.

This layout is useful for anyone who prefers controls positioned around the centre of the scope rather than around the front objective.

Integrated laser rangefinder

The built-in laser rangefinder provides distance measurements up to 1,200 metres. Its integrated arrangement maintains the scope’s streamlined outline while adding distance information to the viewing experience.

The rangefinder’s measuring distance is separate from the thermal detection specification, and performance varies with the subject and conditions.

Recording and rechargeable power

Onboard photo, video and audio recording allow observations to be saved to the internal 64GB memory. USB-C supports data transfer and battery charging.

A replaceable rechargeable 21700 battery offers a manufacturer-rated runtime of up to eight hours. Actual battery life varies with use and conditions, while the replaceable design provides flexibility during longer outings.
