Description
ThermTec Oryx-L 650 Thermal Imaging Scope
The ThermTec Oryx-L 650 is a thermal imaging scope combining a sensitive 640×512 detector, a 50mm F0.9 objective lens and an integrated laser rangefinder. Its traditional scope profile incorporates central focusing and a dedicated zoom control for convenient operation.
With a high-resolution OLED display and onboard recording, it brings together detailed thermal viewing and useful digital features in one device.
Sensitive thermal imaging
The 12μm detector offers NETD sensitivity of ≤15mK, helping reveal small temperature differences within the scene. This supports separation between animals, vegetation and the surrounding landscape when observing in darkness.
The manufacturer specifies a detection range of up to 2,600 metres. Detection performance depends on subject size and environmental conditions, and this figure should not be treated as an identification distance.
50mm lens and detailed OLED display
The 50mm F0.9 lens provides 3.7× base magnification, with digital zoom available when a closer view is needed. Six colour palettes offer different ways to display temperature differences.
A 1.03-inch OLED screen with 2560×2560 resolution presents the image through the eyepiece. The large, detailed display is a key feature for users comparing the Oryx range with other thermal scopes.
Central turret focusing
The ThermTec Oryx-L 650 places its focus control centrally, making it accessible without reaching around the objective lens. A separate zoom control provides a familiar way to adjust the displayed view.
This arrangement keeps the principal viewing adjustments within easy reach and suits users who prefer the layout of a conventional daytime scope.
Integrated laser rangefinder
The built-in laser rangefinder measures distances up to 1,200 metres, adding distance information to the thermal view. Its integrated design maintains the scope’s streamlined outline.
The laser measurement range is separate from the thermal detection range. Actual ranging performance varies with the subject and conditions.
Recording and rechargeable power
Photo, video and audio recording let you retain a record of your outings, with 64GB of internal storage available. Saved footage can be reviewed later, while USB-C supports data transfer and battery charging.
A replaceable 21700 rechargeable battery provides a manufacturer-rated runtime of up to eight hours. Carrying a charged spare offers flexibility during longer sessions, although actual runtime varies with settings and conditions.
