The ThermTec WILD 650D is a premium dual-lens thermal imaging monocular combining a high-resolution 640×512 thermal sensor with an innovative 25mm/50mm dual field-of-view optical system.

Rather than relying entirely on digital magnification, the WILD 650D allows you to switch between two optical focal lengths. Use the 25mm lens for a wide field of view when scanning, then switch to the 50mm lens for greater optical magnification and long-range observation.

Combined with an exceptionally sensitive <18mK thermal sensor, fast F0.9 optics and up to 2600m manufacturer-stated detection range, the WILD 650D is a highly versatile thermal monocular for wildlife observation, gamekeeping, pest control, land management and professional field use.

640×512 12µm Thermal Sensor

At the heart of the ThermTec WILD 650D is a high-resolution 640×512 thermal sensor with a 12µm pixel pitch.

With thermal sensitivity of <18mK NETD, the sensor is capable of detecting very small temperature differences, helping reveal fine detail even when thermal contrast is reduced.

This can be particularly valuable in challenging conditions such as damp weather, high humidity, mist and other situations where the temperature difference between an animal and its surroundings may be relatively small.

A 50Hz frame rate provides smooth thermal imaging when scanning or observing moving heat sources.

25mm/50mm Dual Lens System

The standout feature of the WILD 650D is its dual field-of-view optical system.

Instead of having to choose between a wide-angle thermal monocular and a longer-range device, the 650D combines both in a single unit.

25mm – Wide Field of View

Switch to the 25mm F0.9 lens when you need to scan a large area quickly.

This provides:

• 1.4x optical magnification
• 17.5° × 14° field of view
• Approximately 30.7 × 24.6m field of view at 100m
• Up to approximately 1300m stated detection range

The wide field of view is particularly useful when scanning woodland, hedgerows, paddocks and relatively close countryside environments.

50mm – Long-Range Observation

Switch to the 50mm F0.9 lens when you need greater magnification and longer-range observation.

This provides:

• 2.8x optical magnification
• 8.8° × 7.0° field of view
• Approximately 15.4 × 12.3m field of view at 100m
• Up to approximately 2600m stated detection range

This gives the WILD 650D the flexibility to move quickly from locating a heat source to examining it in greater detail.

Fast F0.9 Optics

Both objective lenses use a fast F0.9 aperture.

The large aperture allows more infrared energy to reach the thermal sensor, complementing the highly sensitive <18mK detector and helping produce a detailed thermal image in challenging conditions.

Up to 2600m Detection Range

When using the 50mm objective lens, the ThermTec WILD 650D provides a manufacturer-stated detection range of up to 2600 metres.

The 25mm setting provides a wider view with a stated detection distance of approximately 1300 metres.

This combination makes the 650D particularly versatile: wide-area scanning and longer-range detection are available from the same thermal monocular.

Actual detection and identification distances will depend on target size, weather, atmospheric conditions, vegetation and the surrounding environment.

Continuous Digital Zoom

In addition to its dual optical system, the WILD 650D provides 1–4x continuous digital zoom.

Combined with the two optical magnifications, this provides considerable flexibility when moving between scanning and detailed observation.

1024×768 AMOLED Display

Thermal images are presented through a high-resolution 1024×768 AMOLED display.

The display provides a detailed viewing experience and complements the high-resolution 640×512 thermal sensor.

Six colour palettes and Forest/Target image modes allow the image to be adjusted for different observation conditions and personal preferences.

Electronic Image Stabilisation

The WILD 650D incorporates Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) to help reduce the visible effects of hand movement.

This is particularly useful when observing distant heat sources or using increased magnification, where even relatively small movements can make detailed observation more difficult.

AI Distance Measurement

The ThermTec WILD 650D includes AI distance measurement, providing an estimated distance to detected objects without requiring a separate laser rangefinder.

This should not be confused with a dedicated LRF. Customers who require precise laser-measured distances should choose a thermal monocular equipped with an integrated laser rangefinder.
