Meindl Sportwax Clear conditions and proofs leather footwear, making it a useful addition to your boot care kit. This natural beeswax product is suitable for leather boots and shoes, including nubuck, and is particularly suited to footwear with a waxed finish.

Conditioning and proofing for leather footwear

Sportwax combines leather conditioning and proofing in one treatment. It is intended for the leather outer of your footwear, helping you care for boots exposed to wet and muddy conditions.

Check your footwear manufacturer’s care instructions before treatment, especially when your boots combine several materials or have a particular surface finish.

Clear wax can still change the finish

Meindl Sportwax Clear is the clear version of the product, but this does not mean it leaves the leather’s appearance unchanged. Waxing can darken the colour and produce a smoother finish.

This is particularly relevant to nubuck, where the original surface texture may change after treatment. Test a small, less visible area first if preserving the appearance is important to you.

How to apply Meindl Sportwax Clear

1. Remove mud and dirt, cleaning your boots with warm water.
2. Allow the footwear to dry naturally.
3. Apply the wax using a sponge or cloth.
4. Rub it into the leather thoroughly, remembering the boot tongues.
5. Follow the product label and your footwear’s care instructions.

There is no need to heat the wax. Meindl advises against heating it because this could reduce the breathability of the boots.
